My latest hobby

If this pattern, found for free over at All Sorts (such a fun and inspiring blog), doesn't motivate you to get out your needle and embroidery floss, I don't know what will. I have never embroidered before, so my first attempt isn't perfect, but I look forward to practicing more (I will conquer the french knot! Why is it so hard for me?).

This little cutie from Urban Threads just might be the project to perfect my "needle skillz."

I can remember hand embroidering with my grandma as a child. She made such great heirloom quilts and I've always wanted to pick up this hobby someday for my own children and grandchildren! Love the pattern!

lovely work! it took me about 3 years of temporarily practicing and 1 year of serious practice to perfect my french knot. I used to avoid them at all costs (which made me miss out on some great cross stitch patterns!)

It looks fine, sewing IS my thing, so welcome to my world when I try to do something with paper and mod podge. Practice makes better. I think it is cute. Love the gingerbreadman pattern.

You did a beautiful job! Pretty soon you'll be doing French knots in your sleep. Wrap, set the point of the needle on the fabric, pull the thread with the other hand to get the tension snug, insert the needle, keeping the thread taut as you push the needle through.

I love that gingerbread man! Too funny!
