Worth the trip

Do you know how to make a 27 year-old mother feel like she's 77?

Take her into Forever 21

Unfortunately, despite the store's name, it does not invoke feelings of being eternally 21. Mounds of flowy tops and short skirts attract giggling groups of blonde teeny boppers; as they slide past her stroller, she is reminded of her very uncool status.

But that's ok - Forever 21 isn't really her style anyway. What? I'm not bitter.

That is not to say that nothing can be found for an almost 28 year-old preppy mom. For less than $7 total, I was able to procure this adorable headband and rose barrette set.

At least now my head can be "forever 21."

The weather is cool and grey (72 degrees as a high! In Oklahoma! In August!). So, my plan for today is to lounge at home and begin cutting my beloved Heather Bailey fabric for a quilt to be used in my daughter's room.

If that doesn't make me feel like a hot young thing, I don't know what will.

cute accessories!!
I don't even step foot in that store. I'm like 15 years beyond it, so why even torture myself? LOL

I am 27 year old, almost 28 year mom as well...and do i ever know what you are talking about!!! I just recently realized that I am not the young girl i was just a few years ago! Im in my LATE 20s. How did that happen?? When did that happen?? I didnt think i'd be one to be that bothered by age, but now when Im out and about and I realize that I am not one of the teenagers running around anymore, I feel old. I feel old because to them, I AM old!!! Atleast my kids dont know that im old.....yet (they are nearly 4 and 2)!--Amber(i stumbled upon your blog during a search, by the way)

Too Funny...when my husband and I go to the mall he says that he feels like he has to suck in his stomach when we walk past Hollister and Abercrombie stores...he is very cute and fit, but I am 30 and comfortable with the idea that some stores are just not for me anymore...

Haha! I went to that store with my daughter and I felt the same way. I did, however find one cute shirt that I could actually wear and I have gotten lots of compliments on it. While I was there I kept calling it "forever 41" and my girl didn't think I was all that funny for some reason. Go figure!

I'm looking forward to a lovely quilt.

The one thing that I don't dislike at Forever 21 is their jewelry section. I just like to look at the wall. If I get to close and notice individual pieces I'm never as pleased, but just looking at that wall....love it.

Yes, we walked past a Forever 21 in the mall recently, and my husband grumbled, "Hmph. Wonder what THEY'RE selling."

And I don't think I realized you were in Oklahoma. Me too!

Yeah, I get rather depressed when I go in there...makes me realize I am not as young as I think I am anymore! But...on to bigger and better things!

So funny! I was just in that store recently because my 25 year old sister told me that "you can find some great accessories for really cheap!" Well...I must dress like a grandma because I couldn't find one thing that would accessorize what I wear!

Ok, I thought I was the only one who fet that way about Forever 21. I feel like a grandma every time I walk in there...and I'm only 32. There is such cute stuff, but it's just not for me. Maybe I'll just have to check out the acessories like you did. :)

I love buying t-shirts at forever 21 but that's about it. None of their skirts match my varicose veins (ha!).

I am a 27 year old mom and I always complain about the music coming from Abercrombie. It is always so LOUD. I used to shop there way back in the day but now I can barely walk by the store without going temporarily deaf.

Forever 21 isn't my style either but I do like to get some good buy's. H & M has some things that I like and they don't look too teeny bopperish. And they are always inexpensive!

I know what you mean about Forever 21, I'm 49 and that place bores me to tears. And the music is all wrong.
