In honor of 1 year of craft blogging...

Yes, on this very day 1 year ago, I wrote this post as an introduction, and thus entered the world of blogging. When I set out, I didn't really have a clear idea of what my blog would even be about. My husband pushed me to do it; he somehow knew that I would enjoy having a creative outlet, though I was quite unsure at the time. 170 posts later, and I guess he was right - blogging is fun!

In celebration of a year of blogging, I give you a completely haphazard post devoid of a single tutorial or even a giveaway (I promise I will be having much more of both in the months to come)

Let the rambling begin...

After 8 years of marriage, we are finally going to have a headboard!
My husband built this using less than $50 in materials; a few more coats
of paint, and we will have a beautiful focal point in our room - I can't wait!

I got new glasses. They are pink. You couldn't get me to wear my
glasses before, now I won't take them off. Pink makes everything better.
Sidenote: My husband and I met in Accounting 101. I always sat in the front row
(couldn't see because of my refusal to wear glasses). Husband sat in the back row.
Pretty soon, he positioned himself in the second row, right behind me.
Our first "date" was to the library, because he "needed accounting help."

This was a quick mod podge project that I did this weekend.
If you click the picture to enlarge you can see that a paper mosaic
creates the pineapple. The two smaller canvases were covered in this post.

I put together this memory board for my daughter's room a while ago,
and have forgotten to share it. I spray painted an old frame, and used ribbon
I had on hand. Scrapbooking brads at intersections help to hold the ribbon down.

I redid our photo wall earlier this year (formerly black frames in a different arrangement).
The new collage hangs in our living room and looks smaller in the picture than it really is.
To give you some perspective, the "G" (our last initial) is over 18" tall.
I have most of the frames filled, but "temporarily" inserted red paper in the ones that aren't.

The Easter bunny brought pink-haired dolls to the girls in their baskets yesterday.
Yes. I am living vicariously through my children.

I appreciate you humoring me through all of my rambles over the last year - I have learned a lot (even how to install a zipper!). I look forward to another year of creativity!

BEST POST EVER! I love your blog so much...I can't believe you've only been around for a year. That's long enough that I could go back and read all you old entries! Well, I would go back and read if I hadn't seen that gorgeous photo. Seriously, I have such a case of hair envy right now we cannot be friends anymore. =)

Here's to many, many more years. Happy 1 year!

I came across Grace Violet a couple months ago by chance. Now I often check in (like daily...but it's not stalking if it's a blog, right?), see a craft and call my 4 yr. old daughter to the screen to ask, "Do you like that? Should we make that, too?" It's pretty much always a resounding, "YES!" Thank you for all your great ideas and tutorials! Congrats on the headboard, too! If 8 yrs. is the magic number, I still have two to go...

Congrats on 1 year blogging. Funny how addicting it is! Love the glasses AND your hair!

Question: How did you paint your head board? Did you use spray paint, or did you use regular latex paint and brush, or did you put the latex paint in a commercial sprayer?

Also ... the finish you have on your "G" is what I'd like to accomplish on my son's head board... can you give us a tutorial? Is it red paint with a black rub? What kind of paints?

I know I'm obsessed with paint -- but I have a headboard for ME after 19 years of marriage... AND a head and foot board for my 3-yr old son!

Inquiring minds wanna know!!!
