Embellishment Week - Easter Shoes

{Each day this week, I am taking a basic clothing item and using VERY SIMPLE techniques, creating something a little more special; by adding little details to a t-shirt or a jacket, they are transformed into much more original pieces!}

Today's Project: Adding a pop of color to my new Easter shoes!

As you can see, the work involved is minor, but the impact is MAJOR!

After much searching for an inexpensive pair of yellow shoes (not so easy to find!) to wear on Easter, my mom pointed me towards this pair at Payless. I liked the color, and loved the price ($12.99!), but knew that they needed something extra. I considered several embellishment options, but finally settled on a set of chunky, cotton-candy-colored buttons. They were the perfect ornamentation - and they were easy to attach. Because this shoe is canvas, the needle and thread went right through.

I'd never crafted with footwear before this little project, but after seeing the effects a button can make on a basic pair of shoes, I know it won't be my last.

Now all that I need is a pedicure!
