Window Shopping - Back to School

Though I have been out of school for quite a few years now, I continue to drool over back-to-school supplies. I yearn for a reason to need them. My husband has learned that if he joins me on a Wal-mart or Target trip during the month of August, we will spend time perusing the aisles. Slooowly.

Have you seen Target's selection of pencil cases?! I want one or twelve. Nevermind the fact that I rarely write with a pencil, and even less frequently need to transport a group of them to some other location; and don't remind me of all the little pencil case type of bags that I already own.

Also, notebooks and 3-ring binders. I am certain I can find a reason to take notes with a few of them.

I even saw that they now have pink graphing calculators! I am sure that my hours spent in calculus would have been much more productive and pleasurable had I been using a pink TI-84.

So, to quell my need to purchase items that are absolutely unnecessary, I have found a few things that I could put to use without enrolling in a single class.

You know, pencil boxes aren't just for pencils! They are nifty for holding craft items as well. ;)

I am a teacher and I treat myself to some new school supplies every year. I always need a fresh set of colored pens for grading. Not just red, either.

How funny! I was just checking out your blog, then went back to mine and say you had left a comment. You are "officially" entered in the give-away. Good luck!
I really love the red/pink desk.
I too, love this time of year. I get those old sentimental feelings to be going back. I think just so I can get a new wardrobe and supplies.

I have a problem with school supplies. I need a 12-step recovery group for back to school season! It's sort of like Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory with Catcher in the Rye - I just feel better when I buy the 5 for $1.00 bottles of glue (nevermind I already have 20 at home).

I am going to bookmark and drool over the red desk - I might have to get one (easy to say now I haven't looked at the price yet).

I have been a VERY good girl and NOT gone down the supply sections this season, but the season ain't over yet!

Thanks also for the sweet comment on my birthday gift post and for the great bucket idea!

Umm, I NEED that birthday organizer.

I am a school supplies lover myself. I can't tell you how many half-used notebooks and binders are sitting around our house. My husband has forbid me to buy any more notebooks until I've used every blank sheet of paper in the house.

Add me to the "love school supplies addict" - and I don't even have kids! I found that the cute pencil cases (soft zip ones that Walmart has) are good for traveling - jewelry, small stuff. Love those paperclips. What took so long to get cute paperclips?

It's really quite impressive how well you resisted! I have the same problem...a teacher turned stay at home, homeschool mom. I always walk slowly through the isles and try to come up with reasons to buy the cute supplies. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work. Oh, and I put your blinkie on my blog...thanks for the handy code!

You can add me to the list of those that are addicted. Have been since birth. :) August is terrible. If I am in a hurry at the store I just have to look down and jog past the school supply isles.

This actually made me laugh out loud! I am so a school supply junkie too! And my kids are 2 and 3, LOL! When I drag my husband down those glorious aisle... I always hear the voices of my children in the future, "No mom... you think that's cool! I want this plain blue one." "Mom... can we go now?! I don't need all new school supplies, I have some left over from last year." UGH! The horror! LOL!

I so want everything you listed in this blog... I will just send a link of your post to my husband with the subject line, "Wishlist." :)

I'm the same way! In fact, for a long while, my husband and I would give each other a $30 budget each to buy school supplies every August -- even when we were NOT in school and had NO kids yet! Ha ha. I am a sucker for brightly colored folders, highlighters, pretty pens, cool paper. Always will be. (And I love to smell them all, too! "New school smell!")

I think that's one of the reasons why I really want to homeschool -- I can be "in school" again myself! :0)

I LOVE school supply shopping!! It's one of my favorite things about the month of August! That, and starting a fresh, new school year!! If only I could keep that same excitement going in our homeschool around the months of Jan & Feb! (lol)

I think the cheap prices of school supplies in August is what is so thrilling! 88 cents for a pack of markers makes me giddy! :)

ok, sign me up for the club! I love school supplies too! I bought myself and both my daughters each a pack of new markers. I dare them to touch mine!!

Laura's comment got me to thinking...I could get a binder and some of those soft pencil cases and sort all kinds of stuff in them!!

I think I'll head to walmart tomorrow...

Love this post, Kristin! I, too, LOVE this time of the year . . . school supply shopping GETS me every year . . . maybe it's the teacher in me! =) We've gotten the backpacks, lunchpacks, new clothes and shoes, just not the supplies yet; I'm taking the boys tomorrow! FUN! They not only enjoy picking out their supplies . . . coming home and sorting/labeling/organizing is exciting for them too!
