A few more clipboards, and freedom

My daughter is at an age (5) where she is not only able, but willing to help out around the house. She actually begs me to use the Swiffer, and is elated when I have her help me fold laundry. I know that I need to use this to my advantage because it won't last long

To keep things organized, I embellished this clipboard (fabric, Mod Podge, ribbon; you know the drill) to hold her weekly chore chart. Now, I suppose that things would be just as organized with a plain brown clipboard... But, would it spread joy all around like this one does? I think not.

Here is one that my mom put together; I love the birds.

And my brother's girlfriend made this one. I'm so happy that she's a crafty girl.

This is such a simple and inexpensive project that has so many uses. I think I need to make one for myself!

And finally, I have to let you know that I am remote blogging today; I am not coming to you from my usual spot on the couch, but instead from Panera...

You see, my children have been dropped off at a Mother's Day Out program, and I get to experience the decadence that is a blueberry scone, iced tea, and a quiet corner.

"What shall I spend the rest of my day doing?" I think to myself.

I need to do this more often... You should try it too.

More great ideas! Thank you! Quick question - where do you buy your fabric? Online?

Love Panera and I just saw a sign that they are opening one around the corner from me! Isn't it strange how quickly 5 hours (the length of our Mother's Day Out program) goes by - I swear that time is on fast forward on those days! Enjoy it - our MDO program is out for the summer so I am relying on the generosity of my mother-in-law for a few hours of freedom!

One more question...where do you get the brads that you use on your notebook project? Is that in scrapbooking supplies?

I have been reading about your blog all over today, so I decided to come and check it out. I own Mod Podge...does that make me chic and crafty?

Awww~ I wonder what it would be like to sit in Panera and blog then shop the rest of the day????But then again, someone has to teach your precious little angels so you can get away (hee hee) I guess I will just live vicariously through you.....

I love those clipboards! I think it would be fun to list each chore on a single note, and then clip them all on, and as you finish them, take them off, so when you are done, you are left with an empty clipboard, and you can see all the pretty designs!! :p

And I need a bit of freedom, too...I last did that a few months ago, spending hours in the fabric shop, checked out a few fashion shops, and then spent the rest of the day parked in a chair at Borders, reading books with my coffee. :p Heaven.

Never heard of Panera.

Is there a clipboard tutorial that I haven't found yet? I love yours, but am not sure how to do it.

Those clipboards are sooooo sweet!! I can so relate to your daughter being interested in doing chores. My almost five year old daughter saw the episode of John and Kate plus 8 where they are teaching the kids to do chores. Now she wants to "it all"!! It is quite cute!!

I love a little time away from the norm - and Panera is a place I frequently choose when I get that time. I love an Asiago Cheese bagel and a hot chocolate.

The clip boards are adorable!

Oh enjoy to yourself completely! I love a few stolen hours to myself at the local coffee shop. Great clipboards and I bet your daughter likes it too. What a great way to make a chore list more fun!

You make me want to decorate a clipboard. I have one and don't use it much, but I think I would if it was cute and not brown and ugly! Thanks for the pretty, craft ideas - I'm a new visitor, and I'll be back!

Hi Kristin,
It's Heidi, the winner of your first flower giveaway. (I'm honored to introduce myself that way now.)

Love the clipboards and I'm proud to say that I've made several of those before (It's not often that I get to say that I've already made some of your cute projects ideas)!

But more importantly... you've got to try the iced green tea at Panera! It is my special treat to myself on challenging days!

This is our VBS week so I have time off too. I love it! Just the peace and quiet--and no one needing me for something--is great!

The boards are great. Too cute!

I love this idea. Anyone can use a plain clipboard but these...these make a statement!
