Decoupage (again)

Have you noticed that I go through craft phases? For a while I was on a sewing spree, and lately its been nothing but decoupage. I'm sure I will go on a sewing binge again, but for now, you are going to have to endure yet another Mod Podge craft.

I almost screamed for joy when I stumbled upon these pineapples at the Dollar store, but since I didn't want to appear like a raving lunatic, I just let out a little gasp. Even at the Dollar store a lady must make an effort to maintain a sense of decorum (I'm sure Emily Post said that somewhere...).

I certainly wasn't looking for little wooden pineapples, and had no idea what I would do with them if I bought them, but they were $1; and that is practically free.

It is a given that I would decide to decoupage them, but I will save you from having to view the entire process yet again (it is the same as here, here, here, and here).

So here is the end result:

I love (LOVE) them... But now what? My first thought is to make a garland out of them with ribbon and string it over my desk space. I've also considered creating a pineapple wreath by gluing each of them to a wreath form.

Can you think of any ways to use these? I know you have some great ideas out there - help me out!

definitely go with the garland! satin hot pink robin with bows at each pineapple are a must!

What about attaching a clothespin (paint it to match first) then hanging them on the wall and use the clothespins to hold a photo.

Other than that I too vote for garland. Or they can be garland photo hangers?

How about painting little wooden frames in a contrasting color and putting them in frames? Sort of a crafty Andy Warhol thing. :)

Oooh, or holiday decorations? Glue two together back to back and line with red satin ribbon.

I also love the wreath idea if you glued tropical leaves to the wreath form!

I like the clothespin picture holder idea. Maybe you could make them into magnets and give as gifts?

OOOH, I like the garland idea combined with the clothespin, holding picture idea....I would have gasped if I had found them too! (just for the record)

Could you attach post-it notes to them? They would look cute sitting around with the hot colored notes on them.

how about using them for a fun summer table by using ribbon to tie them to cloth napkins? or you could attach them to napkin rings? however you use them they are fabulous. thanks for the inspiration!

They look gorgeous Kristin! I like the garland idea. Other options would be fridge magnets; making them into memo clips; embellishing a pin up board or photo frame with them; or attaching them to your storage boxes for a more Grace Violet look. Can't wait to see what you do with them!

I like the garland idea, the clothespin for a photo idea is cool too. All of the ideas given are good.

I had thought about using them as gift tags... Put a little hole at the top, thread a ribbon through and add a to/from label on one side of it.

I think a mobil with lots of bright colored ribbon in G's room would be really cute! It could hang above the little table in the corner or something:)

I think attaching a ribbon (hot glue on the back) and tying them around your brown sugar scrub jar makes the perfect gift! Cute, cute!

Adorable! I love the wreath idea, but the garland idea is just as cute. Well that's a lot of help, isn't it? Can't wait to see the end result though!

How about making some mini photo albums with them? Drill a hole or two in each one, add some jump rings (to make the book), and then add a few photos and journaling. These would make some super awesome little books, and be practically indestructible! (Are my scrapbooker roots showing?)

My vote is garland too. What a great summer look.

If you sprayed them with a clear glaze, would they work as coasters? (can't tell if they are big enough) :)

Very cute!

I would either go with the garland or framed the up. Maybe find a long rectangular frame(or 3) and frame them up.
Can't wait to see what you do with them!!

Great ideas from lots of crafty people!

Another idea would be to paint a canvas or several of them in fun bright coordinating colors and attach 1 pineapple to each to make a fun wall display.

Which dollar store did you get the wood pieces from? One of those paper prints is actually named "Pineapple Brocade!" (Autumn Leaves re-named them when they went to print - I think that one is marked "Azalea" on the paper)

Thank you for taking the time to post about decoupage (again) it is lovely to keep referring back to your post to remember how to start my first ever project.
I now have the inspiration to make a wedding present for my new husband and have decided to decoupage it rather than paint, I am not a painter! sewer and quilter yes, painter no.
Anyway, thanks for the images on how to decoupage, makes perfect sense to me and I now have to rush out to the craft store whilst the kids are in daycare and get my supplies.
Will post you a comment when I have successfulkly completed my first project so you can see the inspiration you have given another.
Have a great weekend.
