Pottery Barn Outlet

This past weekend my family headed south to San Antonio. I had never been and my husband wanted to show me all of the fun places he visited time and again as a boy (he grew up in west Texas and travelled to San Antonio many times). Places like the Alamo and the historic river walk. Plus, we wanted to take our girls to Sea World - a great way to kick off summer!

While all of these activities were full of promise, I must admit, one of the things I was most looking forward to was shopping at the San Marcos Outlets. I'm not sure if I have mentioned before, but I LOVE OUTLET MALLS. And get this: San Marcos had a POTTERY BARN OUTLET!

One of the first things I spotted was this adorable mini dress form. Its intended
use is as a jewelry organizer (it came with little pins that attached to the fabric).

If my sewing studio was more of "a studio" and less of "a corner of my bedroom,"
one of these would have been coming home with us. But, I know that if it was in my room,
I would be regularly waking my husband to alert him of an intruder!

I used to have so much toile - I still love it, but I think I got bored and have moved on.
I was quite tempted to revive my love-affair with toile after spotting all of these linens.
So bright and fun!

These mini crystal candle sticks were just too cute (they are pineapples!).
I wanted them, but was afraid that if I got them I would be on the road of turning
into the crazy-pineapple-collecting lady. I like pineapples, I just don't want
my entire home filled with them. You know what I mean?

I gasped as I turned down this aisle. Imagine how cute these aprons would be
with a name or monogram embroidered on them. I am so proud of myself for resisting.
I know that my apron hooks could not hold another addition
(hey, does that make me the crazy-apron-collecting lady?).

Oh, yeah, and we also visited places like the Alamo.
Which were also, um, fun
And every bit as exciting as a Pottery Barn outlet
(at least that's what my husband says).

In all actuality, Sea World was THE BEST time spent on our trip - I can't wait to go again. There was so much to do and see; I think we will allocate 2 days the next time we go!

(Waiting to see Shamu!)

What about you? Are you taking any trips this summer or do you know of any great family friendly spots (with great shopping)? I would love to hear of places you've gone!

We lived in San Antonio in 1995 - such a wonderful city! Loved The Alamo, the River Walk, Sea World and Fiesta Texas. Looks like you have had an exciting start to summer.

I'm glad you had fun in san antonio (I live there!). But really, you need more than two days to see everything. :) (and I agree, the pottery barn outlet is awesome!)

Do you mind if I ask how much those dress forms cost? I'm trying to decide if it is worth driving to my PB outlet.

Thanks!

I am so jealous!!!
I used to live near the outlet in Virginia before the website. I am still enjoying my purchases from ten years ago.
We are planning to drive to TX to see my sister and visit the Alamo. I'll have to include a trip to the Pottery Barn outlet.
Thanks!!

Jodee, I grew up less than an hour away from Mall of America - it is my motherland! I get to go back in a couple of weeks and I CANNOT wait!

Christian, I have lots of family in TX, but I'm in OK.

Crystal, I loved San Antonio! We were actually there for 4 days, but only spent 1 at Sea World, and it was not enough time!

Mrs. Jones, I believe that the forms were in the $90-100 range. So adorable!

If I had known they had a PB outlet in San Antonio, I would have made an effort to visit when I lived in Texas! :)

We are headed down to San Antonio in 2.5 weeks... any other recommendations of things to do. I would have forgotten about San Marcos had I not visited your blog today!

I was just browsing blogs through "Simple Moms" and found yours through Mom's Magic blog. Randomly, I live literally 1 mile away from the San Marcos PB Outlet and absolutely love it!! I try to restrain myself to only going there when my mother-in-law comes down for a visit (once or twice a month), but I have to say it is a GREAT place to find that perfect gift or that "something" interesting to add to your child's room...or the rest of your house! Glad you had a good time there! :)

Well I'm not much of a shopper, but I would take Pottery Barn over Shamu. You are so like your mother. The Alamo, yes!

Wow, we were in San Antonio at the exact same time as you! And hit all the same places! I probably saw you there and didn't even realize it - lol. It's a stretch, but definitely a possibility. :) We LOVED San Antonio - I think the kids' fave was Sea World. The Shamu show was really fabulous!
