Headboard Completed!

I have never had a completed bedroom - it wasn't high on my list of priorities. I wanted a decorated living area, put-together guest bath, and cute kid rooms; but never wanted to invest much money in the master bedroom.

"Someday," I thought; but not when there were so many other areas of my home that needed attention, my bedroom seemed unimportant (after all, I don't entertain guests in the master bedroom!).

However, after reading several posts from The Nester, I was convinced: my bedroom needed attention. It deserved attention.

The first order of business? Challenge my husband to create a headboard for less than $50. And he did. With lots of creative cutting (using one sheet of mdf and some molding),the total for the supplies was $48!

I am thrilled with the way it turned out - it is definitely a focal point (the photos make it seem small, but it is very chunky and tall - nearly 5 feet!)

Just this one addition to our bedroom has totally transformed the way I feel about the room. Now I actually enjoy spending time there - in fact, I have discovered that perched atop my bed, leaning against my new headboard is an excellent blogging spot!

I have several more projects planned, including creating some sort of art work above the bed. I love monograms - and thought a variation of this idea would look great, but I am not sure. If you have any other ideas, let me know!

Now, if only I could install wood flooring and crown molding, get new nightstands and fluffy white bedding...

The head board looks great! I am in the same decorating boat the master never gets decorated completely. Some day I hope.

I saw this the other day and thought it looked insanely easy--

I love my husband dearly, but handy he isn't. I would llllooooovvvveee a headboard like that! But I will settle for making those monograms. Thanks for the inspiration.

My master bedroom suffers the same fate. I saw the monogram idea a few weeks ago and just finished them (using scrapbook paper instead of fabric).

I like it; all about my husband and I. Now if I could only change the furniture...

Love the headboard. I don't have one either. Sigh.

I think the monogrammed idea on an old, beat up cabinet door or piece of wood would be cool too.

Nice job. I think a wedding picture to go along with the monogram would look very nice. All done in black and white
