{Each day this week, I am taking a basic clothing item and using VERY SIMPLE techniques, creating something a little more special; by adding little details to a t-shirt or a jacket, they are transformed into much more original pieces. The projects will recreate a boutique look - with a much more manageable price tag!}
Gather your supplies: a solid t-shirt and coordinating fabric scraps.
Sew the two pockets right sides together
(using a 1/4" seam allowance),
leaving a small opening along the side.
Turn pocket right-side-out and iron. Sew a straight line across the top of the pocket
(about 3/4" down).
Don't worry about the small opening; that will be closed when you attach the pocket to the T.
Pin the pocket in place, making sure that it is set exactly where you want it
(I suggest carefully trying it on after is pinned to ensure that the placement is correct).
Stitch along the sides and bottom of the pocket, staying very close to the edge as you go.
Not only does adding a pocket liven up a basic T, it is also very practical. My 3 year-old told me that it would be excellent for carrying things. When I asked if she had any ideas of what I should put in my pocket, she quickly replied, "a whistle!" Well, of course! Why hadn't I thought of that?!
Check back tomorrow for another fun and easy embellishment idea!

How convenient to always have a place to keep your whistle!

Very cute! I have a couple plain T's waiting for some kind of embellishment. I think I'll give this a try.
Great for the Grandkids too. I can always find low priced plain T's that need a bit of oomph added to them.
Love it!
A whistle is very practical actually... much cheaper than pepper spray, haha!
YAY! I'm loving embellishment week!
I would have never thought of that. Thanks for the great idea. You also have a cute little blogs.
