I've had lots of inquiries into my marshmallow lollipop post and now that Valentine's Day parties have rolled around, I can finally show a quick tutorial on this simple treat.
These are perfect to send to school because while small enough to create minimal mess (Does anyone else hate cupcakes for this reason? Let me clarify - I love cupcakes. I just don't love classrooms of 4 year-olds eating cupcakes.), they are fun enough that kids will remember it. I've made them as favors for birthday parties and now I am sending them as an adorable alternative to Hannah Montana or Jonas Brothers or Camp Rock or whatever else Disney can endorse Valentine's Day cards.
Begin by attaching marshmallows to the ends of lollipop sticks. These inexpensive sticks are easy to find in the candy making aisle at most craft stores - I've even picked them up at Wal-mart.
Melt white chocolate and add a few drops of food coloring. I have found that almond bark (the square melting "chocolate") works the best because it dries firmly within a couple of minutes.
Dip marshmallows and spin off excess coating.
Sprinkle. Sprinkle. Sprinkle.
Have I ever admitted my sprinkle addiction? I have 30-40 types of sprinkles. Even farm animal sprinkles. I am not ashamed.
Once adequately sprinkled, I place the lollipops in a heavy glass, and set it in the freezer for 2-3 minutes (just until set).
Then, I package them in clear bags tied with ribbon and label them. Personalized Valentine's Day stickers bring the cuteness to a whole new level. Click here to get your own stickers.
So, like I said.
E.Z.
Make them and your kids will think you are the coolest mom, and all the mothers will be amazed at your Martha Stewart-ness.

You know, I really don't like marshmallow...but these look so cute I might just have to make them anyway! Thanks for the tutorial!
And don't worry about the sprinkles. I just might catch up with you!
These are cute. Your kids must be the coolest in class.
I have a friend who made these last year for her daughter's class on Valentine's Day, but below the marshmallow on the stick, she put a bright red strawberry. It was really pretty with the pink chocolate coating.
I just made these yesterday with my son, for his class. But yours look way cuter. I just used rainbow sprinkles.
Thanks so much for this tutorial...I am doing this tonight with my church group...you are awesome!!
My 8-year-old and I did this for her Valentine class party tomorrow. They came out really cute! Thanks for the idea!
Girl, I made these for my girls' birthday party back in November and got tons of "ooohs" and "aaahs" and lots of whispers of "how does she have time to do all that stuff?!"
Thanks a million!!
SO cute! Thank you for the idea.
Hi, Kristen. Thanks so much for the comment on my blog.
I've been following Grace Violet for awhile now and I always love your ideas. These marshmallow pops are in my "to-do with daughter someday" list.
If you look close, they actually look like little cupcakes, right?
Great idea! The bigger kids can help too.
I LOVE SPRINKLES! There I said it :)
I tripped across your site today while searching for a cute Valentine treat idea for my kids' classes. (I just love Flickr!) I'm adding you to my bookmarks! You are amazingly creative! Thank you so much for the idea.

Too funny--I just typed up my blog post for tomorrow (Thursday) and one of the things I blogged about was marshmallow lollipops. :) I used pink candy melts for mine.

And now I'm going to be ADDICTED to your blog. Oh, great! And even worse? Now I'm feeling crafty after reading your blog. Aack! I need another 24 hours in the day!
I'll be back to visit more!
Very cute! Thanks for the tutorial. :-)
Those are so cute! Unfortunately, we can't bring anything homemade to school. It must be store bought and packaged. :/
What a fabulous idea! I just might have to make some of these for my middle schoolers at church.
These are so cute!
I love sprinkles too. This afternoon my hubs and I went to the library and we stopped to get ice cream--mine with sprinkles, of course! Without the sprinkles the ice cream seems so plain!
This is SO fantastic! All the other moms are going to secretly hate me... I totally win! :) Thanks! Hee hee...

What a great idea. These little treats are almost too cute to eat. I can hardly wait to show this to my daughters and daughters-in-law.
I just finished making these! I used popcicle sticks (I found coloured ones at the store) and used crushed candy instead of sprinkles.
I am taking them to a valentines day party and giving them to adults!
I love these..I want to make some!
WOW!!! They look wonderful!!! Need to pass this along to my daughters to make for my grandkids!!!
Oh my goodness, sooo cute! I wish I had seen this a day or so ago and I would have made some up for my little girl to take to school today! Maybe next year! :) Thanks for sharing this!
SWEET! No pun intended. ;)
I can't wait to try these!
(Well I actually CAN wait since I don't have the sticks part yet, haha)
These were a hit with my daughter's class yesterday! Thanks for making me look like the coolest mom at the school. :)
Hi, just came over from Rocks In My Dryer. What a sweet idea! I'm definitely going to make these next year...or maybe I won't be able to wait that long :)
I really enjoyed reading through your blog. You have some really creative ideas! Thanks for sharing them all!
Those are kind of neat. I don't have any kids, but I think I might make some just because.
I've seen this idea and it's fabulous! Great, fun post!
That's so cute. I saw the pictures of these on my friend's facebook profile!
Those ROCK!! I wish I'd found you sooner!
How cute ! I love this idea. I will file it away for a special day. Love reading your blog daily.

You are just a wealth of great ideas, aren't you?! I'll be back!
I made these for a Valentine's party. They were cute and very easy! Thanks :).
I'm soo all over this one next year! I did lollypop lilies from another blog, and they were cute, but time consuming, with all the cutting. Thanks for a super cute idea!
I just found your blog, I love it! Looks like we have similar tastes : )
These are so cute! I'll definitely have to try them. =)

What an amazing, fun idea for Valentine's Day . . . and easy too! Thanks for sharing!!
These look so so yummy!!!!!
I am going to combine your idea of the stickers with the idea I found here of using twistie straws! http://www.chicaandjo.com/2008/06/19/chocolate-covered-marshmallow-treats/
My daughter's girl scout troop will love these!
I made these the other day! I loved how cute they turned out! Thanks for the awesome tutorial....I can't wait til my son is older so I CAN be the coolest mom of the class. :) (He's only 16 months)
Hi, I'm a friend of Krista B. I frequent your blog for cute ideas, and I LOVE this one. I made these for a baby shower (blue tinted chocolate with sprinkles) and for my sons class for Valentine's Day. For the Valentine's party, I used the large pink strawberry marshmallows and left the white chocolate just white and then sprinkled with cute white, pink and red heart sprinkles. They turned out SUPER cute and were a big hit! Thank you SO much for the great idea! If I get around to it, I'll send Krista a picture of the ones with the pink marshmallows to forward on to you...so fun!
THANK YOU SO SO SO much for this idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i made these for a valentines event and they were a HUGE hit. i made mini cupcakes instead of marshmallows..because i don't really like marshmallows but quickly found out that cupcakes take substantially more work!
here are a few pictures:

Those are adorable! Thanks for the tutorial.

ok, so this might be a dumb question, but i tried them and my chocolate got 'lumpy' as soon as i added the food coloring, so i couldn't dip the marshmallows. I tried heating the choc. in the microwave as well as on the stove --could it be that my food coloring is 'old' or have others had the same problem? THANKS!
These look uber sweet, but such a good and economical idea!
These are awesome and I plan to make Easter-themed ones with the little ones at church. Thanks!
Adorable - I'll have to make these for the kids I babysit (and, of course, a batch to satisfy my sweet tooth!).
ok, we bought marshmallows today...I was wondering what to do with them. I wonder no more-thanks!
Too late for me to try this for Valentines--but I'm taking this idea and "greening" it for St. Patrick's day. Love the idea!!
I just finished making these and they are soo simple and delicious!!!
I made some Green ones for St.Patty's Day and Red ones just for fun! CHeck them out:

i want to make those so much they look so tah tastey
kool thanks!
They look so cute, simple but delicious - will give these a try for out next Birthday party - thanks for sharing!
that's just incredible, amazing even
FYI Food coloring makes white chocolate clump. You have to use icing coloring for it to work.
Easy, easy, easy.....thanks a whole bunch.....:)
Those are the kinds of things that look and taste great and are soooo easy to make.. someone just needs to think of it! And who said this was only for kids?
